"I had my appointment today with Dr. Maya Sakethou at iSmile Dental, and I was incredibly impressed with the entire experience. I had two old fillings removed and replaced, and while my mouth is a little sore (as expected), the care and professionalism I received were truly outstanding.
Dr. Sakethou walked me through every step of the procedure, consistently explaining what she was doing, which really helped ease any anxiety. From the numbing needles to the final polish, she was gentle, attentive, and made sure to give me breaks when needed. I felt very cared for throughout.
The office itself is spotless and modern, with a very kind and welcoming staff. They’re also highly flexible with payments, offering several options that make it easier to plan. Don’t hesitate to ask questions—they’re more than happy to explain everything clearly.
The only downside to my visit was being asked to arrive early, which meant leaving work ahead of schedule. Ironically, I wasn’t seen until my original appointment time, so that part could have been managed better. Still, it doesn’t take away from the excellent care I received.

Answers Before Your Visit
How often should I see the dentist?
Most people do well with a checkup and cleaning every six months. Some people need to come more often, for example with a history of gum disease, and your dentist will tell you if that's you.
Does a dental cleaning hurt?
Most people feel some pressure and mild discomfort at most. Sensitive teeth or inflamed gums can make it less comfortable, so say so during the cleaning and the hygienist can adjust.
What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?
Call right away: a tooth seen within an hour has the best chance of being saved. Hold it by the crown, not the root, rinse it gently without scrubbing, and keep it in milk on the way. For heavy bleeding or a head injury, call 911.
Why do my gums bleed when I brush?
Bleeding gums are often an early sign of gum inflammation from plaque along the gumline. Gentle brushing twice a day and daily flossing often help within a couple of weeks. If the bleeding doesn't stop, book a visit so it can be checked.
What can I do about sensitive teeth?
Sensitivity to hot, cold or sweet things can come from worn enamel, exposed roots, a cavity or a cracked tooth. A toothpaste made for sensitive teeth helps many people, but sensitivity that lasts or gets worse is worth having looked at.
When should a child first see the dentist?
The American Dental Association recommends a first visit by a child's first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth. Early visits are short and mostly about getting comfortable.
Are dental X-rays safe?
Dental X-rays use a very low dose of radiation and are taken only when needed to see what an exam can't, such as decay between teeth. Tell us if you are or might be pregnant.
Is it safe to see the dentist while pregnant?
Yes. Routine dental care is safe during pregnancy, and pregnancy can make gums more prone to inflammation. Let us know you're pregnant so your care can be planned around it.
What's the difference between a filling and a crown?
A filling repairs a smaller area of decay inside a tooth. A crown covers the whole visible tooth and is used when too much of it is damaged for a filling to hold. Your dentist will explain which one a tooth needs and why.
How can I keep my teeth healthy between visits?
Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth once a day, and keep sugary snacks and drinks to mealtimes. Replace your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles fray.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe pain, a broken or knocked-out tooth, swelling in your face or jaw, or bleeding that won't stop are reasons to call right away. Swelling that makes it hard to breathe or swallow needs emergency care: call 911.
How do I book an appointment?
Call us and tell us what the visit is for, so the right amount of time is set aside. If you're not sure what you need, describe what's going on and we'll help you choose.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Call as early as you can and we'll find another time. Letting us know ahead also frees the slot for someone else who is waiting.
How do I reach you outside office hours?
Leave a message with your name, number and what you need, and we'll call you back once the office opens. If anyone is in danger, call 911.
Can I ask about cost before I decide?
Yes. Cost depends on what you need, so ask when you call. It's always fine to ask what affects the price before you agree to anything.
